“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.”
Do you have the fruit of the Spirit in your life? People of all nations spend billions of dollars in pursuit of obtaining some form of it in their lives. Everyone wants to have a life that contains these attitudes and characteristics. However, the only true way we can get this fruit is to allow the Spirit of God into our lives. There is no magic potion, no new material possession and no way you can do it solely on your own.
We must do the do the same as John the Baptist realized when he reflected on his life, “He (Jesus) must increase, but I (John) must decrease (John 3:30).” We are required to empty ourselves of “us” and allow Christ in. The fruit can most definitely grow in us, however, we must be willing to provide “ground” that the Spirit can grow in. Our ground can be prepared by reading God’s word, thoughtful prayer and a willingness to provide God a life He can work with.
May our attitudes and character show that God is actively working in our lives by the fruit we are bearing.
