A Father’s Love

Romans 8:38,39

For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Matthew 7:7-11

“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

1 John 4:18,19

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because he first loved us.”

In growing up did you ever do anything wrong that you thought would cause your mom or dad to love you less or cause them to stop loving you all together? We can look at our relationship with God the same way and think, “I have done something so wrong, so bad, that He will never forgive me”. We feel that we are unforgivable, so we do not even try to ask for forgiveness. All we have to do is read the bible account of David who was an adulterer and murderer to see how God forgave him. David repented and God never left him or turned His back on him. We are the ones that will separate ourselves from God, not the other way around. I love these verses in Romans 8 because it emphasizes the fact that nothing we do can stop Him from loving us. A parent’s love for their child is so great, so strong and yet God’s love for us is even beyond that. When Paul says there are no powers on earth that can separate His love from us, we need to take that in…and allow the burden we have been carrying to be lifted from us. In 1 John 4 it says, “He first loved us”; just as a parent loves their unborn child, God loved us before we were even born.

If something is going on in your life or you cannot forgive yourself for the past and have separated from God, go to Him and ask for forgiveness. Like a father forgives his own child, God will forgive you. We are given assurances that nothing can separate His love from us: NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING.

May you put your fear aside and ask for forgiveness for whatever it is in your life that is stopping you from having the full relationship that God wants to have with you. May you believe that God’s love for you is beyond anything in this world.

God bless,

Doug
